Santiago de Cuba, December 31 (ACN) With the traditional nighttime festivity to the national flag, presentation of music-dance groups and special lunches and dinners in the Family Care System, Santiago de Cuba will say goodbye to the year 2023 today.
In greeting to the 65th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution, Cuban flags will fly on tall flagpoles in the Hero City in the early hours of the morning, a solemn tribute to those who gave their lives for the freedom of the Homeland.
Various gastronomic, artisanal and other useful offers, sold at the Special Products Fair, will accompany the celebration throughout the day.
The nighttime cultural evening, which will be held in the central Plaza de Marte, will be entertained by the Los Karachi dance music orchestra, directed by Fernando Álvarez, the Ballet Folklorico Oriente and other talents from the territory, in tribute to popular traditions.
With 300 guests, the emblematic Céspedes Park will host the Flag Festival, the only one of its kind in the country and loaded with symbolism due to the omens attributed to the way the national symbol is waved.
122 years after the first lifting of this type, the ceremony will feature a performance by the All Star dance group, the Ballet Santiago and soloists from the patio, and will culminate with words of congratulations from Yaneidis Hechavarría, president of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power , to the indomitable people for the arrival of 2024.
Dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the triumph of the revolutionary feat, on January 1, 1959, the celebrations celebrate the combativeness of the people for the achievements achieved in 2023 in different sectors, despite the economic complexities faced.
