San Antonio Spurs Exploring Trade Options to Address Team Imbalance

The San Antonio Spurs are internally discussing the surplus of players they have in some positions on the court. At the same time, they have serious shortcomings in other positions, which led Gregg Popovich, among other things, to try Jeremy Sochan as a point guard.

The results have been quite discreet, so management will try to take advantage of the market until February to correct its shortcomings and balance the team. If they finally close a trade before ‘trade deadline’, Keldon Johnson emerges as one of the main assets to move, as reported by the journalist from ESPN Marc Spears.

Johnson, 24, signed an extension for four seasons and 74 million dollars in June 2022. These figures will decrease to the 17.5 million that he will receive in the 2026-27 season, so it is an easy contract moving and interesting for a contender with little salary flexibility.

The forward’s numbers have decreased this season to 17.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists in the 22 games he has played this campaign, all of them as a starter. In the 2022-23 season he averaged 22.0 points per evening.
