Born just a few days apart, Richard Gasquet and Rafael Nadal have always displayed a certain bond. A link which still persists today and which recently allowed the Frenchman to play with his counterpart and provide news.
While they were barely entering adolescence, they were already competing regularly on the courts and appeared as the two main prodigies of world tennis. Rafael Nadal both subsequently had illustrious careers, which they are continuing tirelessly at the age of 37. A few days ago, they found themselves all smiles in the luxurious setting of the Mallorcan academy:

Although he is now ranked 76th in the world, Gasquet can still be satisfied with being better ranked than Nadal at the moment. The latter is actually coming out of a practically blank season due to injuries and has only recently returned to training. We trained together on Sunday for 3h15. Very good intensity. How did I find it? It’s only been a fortnight since he picked up the points. Obviously, he is short of time. But hey, he already plays very well. When you stop for so long, it’s not easy in terms of rhythm. In any case, we had three very good sets. I won two!
We had a good session, which lasted a long time. It’s always the same in training. You see the anger, the concentration, always the same thing.
Holder of a humiliating 0-18 career record against Rafa — which does not prevent him from being respected by the latter, Gasquet will still be able to congratulate himself on having won this “match” in three sets. This, even if he suffered some good points from the Spaniard:

Rafael Nadal’s training partner a few days ago, Richard Gasquet says he is on the right track for his return to competition. The poor form of the Bull of Manacor will have at least allowed him to win two sets against him for the first time!
