Tegucigalpa, Dec 29 (EFE).- Honduran Leticia Castro, one of the best basketball players in Honduras, died this Friday at the age of 87 due to an unspecified illness that affected her several years ago, family sources reported.

Castro, who was selected from Honduras in the 60s and 70s of the last century, started playing basketball on the Motagua team in Tegucigalpa, with which she won several championships, the first in 1959, according to the newspaper La Tribuna. which is published in the Honduran capital.

The former Honduran basketball team was also linked to sports in the Ministry of Education and the National Autonomous University of Honduras (Unah).

“Our beloved ‘Mrs. Leti’ will forever be remembered in our hearts for her strength, joy and love,” said the Stancia School of Tegucigalpa in a message of mourning for the death of Leticia Castro. EFE
