The individual trophies of the +Deporte La Region Awards are completed with the two categories of veterans, male and female, as well as the award that recognizes participants in the adapted modalities. At the end of the season they show that they have no limits, since the masters and athletes with disabilities have not stopped bringing joy to provincial sport in a season that has once again been packed.

The shortlist of finalists for the +Sport Award in the category of male veteran athlete is opened by athlete Javier Viteri Fernández. The member of Samertolameu, who achieved a position finalist in the M60 category of the European Championship throwing pentathlon competition held in Pescara (Italy), he was a triple champion of Spain in the outdoor National, a double champion in the National long throws and also signed a triplet in the Gallego. On the indoor track he also climbed to the top of the national and regional podium.

Julio Fernández Valencia, a member of the Athlos badminton Club, also won the national gold.. She was in the mixed doubles team of the Spanish Championship held in Benalmádena, in the B1 category. Jesús Rodríguez León, paddler of the Fluvial O Barco, completes the shortlist thanks to his double medal in the World Championship in the marathon modality, in Denmark, with gold in K-2 40-44 years and silver at the individual level. She was also a double medalist at the European Championships, in Croatia. She repeated with gold in the K2 and individual silver.

Athletics, canoeing and water lifesaving are the leading sports in the shortlist of finalists for the award in the category of female veteran athlete. Beatriz Viteri Bouso, from Samertolameu, managed to get to the top of the podium in the W35 category of the pole vault competition at the European Championships. This was in Pescara (Italy), and in Jerez de La Frontera, in Cádiz, he did the same in the Spanish Outdoor Championship, and in Vigo, in the Gallego, he signed the triplet in his fetish modality.

The canoeist Kissy Torres, from the Fluvial Avión-Castrelo de Miño, was a double medalist in the World Championship in the marathon modality: gold in women’s K-2 40-44 years and bronze in mixed K-2. Cristina García Colomo, from the Salvor Club for lifesaving and aquatic lifesaving, dominated the Spanish Championship in closed waters, with three golds and one silver in the W60 category, while in open water he achieved one gold and three silvers. Four more titles came in the Galician Championship.

Sport without limits

Athletics is the protagonist twice in the shortlist of finalists at Unlimited Sports Award. Fernando Silva, from CD La Purísima, was proclaimed double Galician under-16 champion of adapted indoor athletics, by hanging the gold medals around his neck in 400 and 800 meters. In the Spanish Outdoor Championships he won silver in the 1,000 meters in addition to finishing fourth in the 400 meters.

Xiana Pungín, from Adas, was a double gold medalist in the Spanish Liberty Promesas Championship for athletes with visual disabilities, while in the absolute National Championship she won silver in the 1,000 meters and fifth in the long jump.

Manuel García Rosendo, from Club Athlos, has reached the national elite in para-badminton, with individual silver in the SL4-SU5-SH6 category and gold in men’s SU5 doubles. She has made the international leap, with fourth place in the SU5 men’s doubles at the Western Australia, which has led her to ninth place in the SU5 world ranking.
