Next Monday, December 11, at the Périgueux theater, the 35th Éclats du sport ceremony will be held where more than 70 athletes from the department will be rewarded and honored.

“We had a record number of recipients,” said Claude Gaillard, president of the Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee (CDOS), a few days before the Éclats du sport ceremony. Indeed, there were many athletes licensed in Dordogne, champions of France, Europe and the world this year. They will also be honored this Monday, December 11, and 65 of them (athletes and teams) will receive a trophy made by the Facsimilés du Périgord workshop. Three of them will also win a gold, silver and bronze Super Eclat.

Favorites

In response to criticisms made last year, Claude Gaillard was happy to announce that the CDOS had counted this year, 42 athletes under 35 years old. French champions of adapted sports, pétanque, fencing, but also the three French champion rugby teams, will take the stage.

In the long list of 65 athletes, we can find regulars but also hopes of tomorrow’s Périgord sport, such as Milann Klemenic (athletics, Elan sportif Trélissac), Thomas Chinours (sport shooting, ST Périgord Noir) but also the young boxer Bilal Benali (Bergerac).

In addition, six favorites are designated. These are athletes or teams who have not won a championship title but have achieved performances worthy of being rewarded: the tennis player from Boulazac, Maxence Rivet, the Boulazac gymnast Ruddly Bordelais-Maisonnable, the U19 footballers from Trélissac, the departmental pétanque committee. Two teams will represent school sport, the archery team from Éréa in Trélissac and the pistol shooting team from the Léonard-de-Vinci professional high school in Périgueux.
