PSV Facing Uncertainty Over Future of Loaned Stars Tillman and Dest

PSV is in danger of losing one of the stars of the first half of the season next season. (21) is rented from Bayern Munich this year, with the Eindhoven team negotiating an option to purchase, but club watcher Rik Elfrink of the Eindhovens Dagblad writes that trainer Peter Bosz could not count himself rich with this.

“Tillman will cost between 12 and 14 million euros at the end of this season, if PSV were to take him over from Bayern Munich,” Elfrink writes. However, his rental contract may have included provisions that would prevent the German Record champions could put a stop to that: “There is a chance that there are clauses in that option, which means that a purchase for that amount cannot go ahead and Bayern can block the case,” it reads. The club would be compensated for this: “PSV normally collects a lot of money in that case, but the club does not discuss amounts or exact conditions.”

Last season, PSV met Tillman in the preliminary rounds of the Champions League. In the play-offs for participation in the billion-dollar ball, the German-born American PSV blocked the way to the group stage with the Scottish Rangers FC. The team of then coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst would end up disconsolately at the bottom of the Ajax group with a shocking goal difference of -21 (one scored, 22 against). This season, the attacking midfielder and winger played twenty times for PSV, scoring five times and providing just as many assists.

Dest
In addition to Tillman, Sergiño Dest is also on loan for PSV this season. The back, who was trained at Ajax, can be taken over from FC Barcelona for around ten million euros in the summer of 2024, as it became clear earlier. However, it is not known whether a contractual provision could also prevent a definitive transfer in his case, Elfrink writes: “PSV has also not made any announcements about the clauses of that option.” He states that the stated amounts would be beneficial for PSV: “Both players are currently performing excellently and appear to be worth more on the transfer market than the amount that PSV has agreed with Bayern and FC Barcelona (for Dest).”
