PSG is doing pretty well. The French club will face Real Sociedad in the round of 16 of the Champions League, decided the draw organized in Nyon, Switzerland, Monday December 18.
The Parisians, who placed second in their group, could have faced a European big name, like the defending champion Manchester City or Bayern Munich.
Kylian Mbappé and his partners will therefore challenge the Basques, currently sixth in La Liga, who managed to finish at the top of their group ahead of the finalist of the last edition, Inter Milan.
Even if it has a few confirmed players like Mikel Merino, Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Oyarzabal or Takefusa Kubo, the San Sebastian club seems, on paper, largely within the reach of PSG.
The first legs are scheduled for February 13, 14, 20 and 21, the return matches for March 5, 6, 12 and 13.
In the Europa League, Stade Rennais will face AC Milan for a place in the round of 16, the 2nd group in this competition facing teams transferred from the Champions League. Toulouse, winner of the last Coupe de France, will be opposed to Benfica Lisbon, another European big name. Better off, Olympique de Marseille will face Shakhtar Donetsk, the Ukrainian club that won the event in 2009, while RC Lens, 3rd in its C1 group, will face Fribourg.
