Paris Saint-Germain can look forward to a huge windfall. As the club announced, a new investor deal was concluded with the company Arctos Partners, which will have secured a 12.5 percent stake in PSG in the future and will invest almost half a billion in it. Nevertheless, the company should not have any influence on the sporting fortunes.

Paris Saint-Germain has presented a new shareholder and thus given away some of the club’s shares: The private capital company Arctos Partners will join the series champions of Ligue 1, but will expressly have no influence on the sporting fortunes of the club, said the incumbent French title holder on Thursday. As the club announced, Arctos will become a minority shareholder.

There were no official information or further details about the deal. “Today is an important milestone in the history of Paris Saint Germain, which will contribute significantly to the continued success and growth of our great club,” PSG boss Nasser Al-Khelaïfi (50) is quoted in the press release.

PSG is planning stadium and training center expansion

According to a report in the French magazine L’Équipe, Arctos is said to have secured 12.5 percent of the shares in PSG and paid 531.25 million euros for it. This would give the club a total valuation of 4.25 billion euros.

PSG has been in the hands of the Qatari sovereign wealth fund Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) since 2011. According to QSI, the aim of the new investment is to support and expand the club’s projects with a view to the stadium and the training center. Arctos is also intended to help promote the Paris Saint-Germain brand on international markets and make it better known.

PSG partner invests in numerous sports

“Our investment in the club is fully in line with our strategy of partnering with world-class teams in North America and Europe,” said Doc O’Connor, co-founder and managing partner of Arctos, about the new commitment in Paris. The US company is already involved in a variety of sports, including Liverpool FC, the Formula 1 racing team Aston Martin as well as teams from the NBA basketball league, the NHL ice hockey league and the MLB baseball league.
