The late Friday night kick-off in the Primeira Liga sees Chaves travel to the Estadio Do Dragao to face Porto in their final match of the calendar year. The host club currently sit third in the table after the first 14 rounds of the season, while the visitors are at the back of the pack with just 10 points on the clock. The only downside is the defeat against Sporting Lisbon two weeks ago, in the last league match, which cost Porto the opportunity to take the lead in the standings. The Dragons then recorded a 2-1 victory against lower division side Leixoes in the Taca da Liga. Porto thus won their fifth consecutive home victory (TCC) and managed to score two or more goals in each of these meetings. Porto won the last meeting against Chaves 3-1 away last season, marking their eighth consecutive victory against this team. For his part, Chaves hoped to get closer to the qualifying places for Europe this season, after coming close to them last season, but things went very badly for them. They started the season with five consecutive defeats and, although they managed a brief three-game unbeaten run between September and early October, they were unable to maintain it and go into this match having not won only one of their last 7 matches, in all competitions. Chaves’ last match ended in a 3-1 home defeat to Casa Pia, which says a lot when you consider that their opponents had not scored three goals in a match this season and had only found the net 10 times in 13 matches.
