The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, through the Sports area directed by Luis González, encourages island sports federations and delegations interested in participating in the 41st edition of the Canary Islands School-age Championships at the regional level. Councilor Luis González emphasizes the openness of this call in order to guarantee broad participation and representation in these sporting events.
For those who wish to participate, it is suggested to contact the Sports Service of the insular Corporation. Furthermore, this call is also extended to potential sports clubs that do not have the support of any federation or island delegation and that are interested in participating in the scheduled competitions.
The General Directorate of Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands announced in advance in 2022 through a resolution the annuities 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 of these championships that allow, in addition to the achievement of sports results proclaimed by the champions of the Canary Islands in the different modalities convened sports, the opportunity for athletes from all the islands to coexist.
In sports competitions for schoolchildren at the level of island teams, various disciplines have been established according to the categories. In the children’s class, participants will be able to enjoy chess, badminton, indoor soccer, judo, orienteering and table tennis. For the cadet category, chess, athletics, badminton, cross country, rhythmic gymnastics, judo, orienteering, table tennis, triathlon and beach volleyball. Finally, in the youth, the competition will focus on cross country.
At the sports club level, competitors will have the opportunity to participate in basketball in the children’s division, while in the cadet division they will be able to participate in handball and volleyball.
