Peruvian Delegation Shines with 53 Medals at South American School Games 2023

The Peruvian delegation won 53 medals at the XXVII South American School Games 2023, which was held in Santiago, Chile, and to which it traveled with the support of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD).

In this way, he surpassed his participation last year in Asunción, where he won 47 medals. On this occasion, Team Peru won 10 gold medals, 13 silver and 30 bronze medals, placing it in fifth place in the overall medal table.

The discipline that gave us the most victories was chess, which won 5 gold medals, followed by athletics with 4 and table tennis with one gold. The dream of our champions began in the national school championship held by the Ministry of Education, where our representatives qualified.

For this contest, the national team presented a delegation made up of 158 athletes and 6 Para-athletes.

Delegations from Argentina, Bolivia, Bonaire, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela also participated, in nine conventional disciplines (chess, athletics, basketball, handball, futsal, volleyball, swimming, table tennis, judo ) and in athletics for intellectual disabilities.

The South American School Games constitute the maximum international school sports event organized by the South American Sports Council (CONSUDE); and are intended for students who attend secondary educational institutions, with the premise of contributing to sports, cultural and exchange development among young people from the participating nations.
