Pair Jeremiah and Rahmat, Coach Reveals Plans for Marcus/Kevin

KOMPAS.com – Indonesian men’s doubles coach, Aryono Miranat, has prepared plans for Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo for 2024.

Marcus/Kevin last appeared at the Singapore Open on 6-11 June 2023. After that, they missed various tournaments because Marcus had surgery on his right ankle.

The former world number one in men’s doubles then returned to the competition arena last November with a different sparring partner.

Marcus was paired with Muhammad Rayhan Nur Fadillah. They compete in the Syed Modi India International (28 November-3 December) and the Guwahati Masters 2023 (5-10 December).

They were eliminated in the first round of the Syed Modi India International, then stopped in the quarter-finals of the Guwahati Masters.

Meanwhile, Kevin is partnering with Rahmat Hidayat and appearing in the Korea Masters tournament (7-12 November 2023) and Kumamoto Masters Japan (14-19 November 2023).

The duet between Kevin and Rahmat only reached the round of 16 in both tournaments. Now, the coach already has a plan for his students.

Not only Marcus and Kevin, but also Rayhan. Because, Rahmat Hidayat has been confirmed as the partner of Jeremiah Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan.

However, Aryono Miranat said he couldn’t make a decision yet because he still had to discuss it with Marcus and Kevin.

“For Marcus, Kevin and Rayhan, I have prepared a plan for them,” said Aryono in a PBSI statement.

“However, I still have to discuss it, especially with Marcus and Kevin,” he continued.

Meanwhile, Rahmat Hidayat will be Yeremia Rambitan’s partner at the Thailand Masters 2024 which will take place on January 30-February 4 2024.

This decision was made by Aryono following the withdrawal of Yeremia’s previous match partner, Pramudya Kusumawardana, from the PBSI national training.

“In terms of play, they can complement each other. Jeremiah can play as a defender and play in front of the net,” said Aryono.

“Meanwhile, Rahmat as a forward can organize more attacks in front of the net. In terms of age, there is not much difference,” he said.

“It is hoped that he can fill in after Pramudya resigns,” Aryono continued.
