Orlando Magic Renames Arena the Kia Center after 13 Years as Amway Center

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Magic renamed their arena the Kia Center on Wednesday, after 13 years where the building was the Amway Center.

The transition to the new name has been underway for some time.

At the time of the unveiling, the Kia logo was already in place on a banner and on the basket posts.

Security guards had vests with the Kia logo and employees received new access cards bearing the new building name.

Terms of the new deal were not disclosed; The deal with Amway was originally worth about $4 million a year.

“The Magic and Kia America have been proud partners for many years and we share the excitement of Kia’s success and growth,” said Magic CEO Alex Martins. We are excited about this expanded partnership. »

Kia and the NBA have been partners for decades. The automaker is the presenting sponsor of several league trophies and has deals with at least 13 clubs. The one with the Magic has been in place for about 15 years.

“This arena is a spectacular asset to Central Florida and to tourists who come from all over the world to stay in the region,” said Sean Yoon, CEO of Kia America.

“Including the name change to what became the Kia Forum in California, we now have a presence on both U.S. coasts. »

Associated among others with the Los Angeles Lakers of the ‘Showtime’ era, the Inglewood Forum became the Kia Forum in April 2022.

Amway has had ties to the Magic since the team’s inception.

The training originally belonged to Richard DeVos, one of the co-founders of Amway. He died in 2018; his family still owns and controls the club.
