Olympic Projection is one of the most outstanding initiatives of comprehensive assistance to elite Rio Negro athletes. It involves not only a financial contribution but also monitoring and advice on different aspects of sports health by a team of professionals from Río Negro Deporte.
The program, active since 2021, is made up of eleven outstanding men and women from Rio Negro: Rodrigo Jara (judo), Manuel Lascano and Gonzalo Lo Moro (canoeing) from Viedma, Hernán Urra (adapted athletics) from Cinco Saltos, Iván Nikolajuk (archery ) from General Conesa, Martina Escudero (athletics) from Cipolletti, Franco Dal Farra, Francesca Baruzzi (skiing) and Dante Pizzuti (Olympic lifting) from Bariloche, Fausto Catini (artistic gymnastics) from General Roca and Sol Castro (basketball) from Río Colorado .
So far in 2023, the beneficiaries of the program have achieved important achievements, such as Pizzuti, who became Pan American runner-up, Urra, World runner-up, and Lascano and Lo Moro, who were medalists in the Pan American Games, among others.
On the other hand, the sports scholarship program has also remained in force, providing financial support to 96 athletes in the province. Added to this was permanent contact with the Sports Health team who provided nutrition and physical recovery advice to each and every one of the beneficiaries.
Among the many results achieved by the athletes who receive these scholarships, we can highlight the swimmer from Viedma, Ailén Lascano Micaz, who established a world record, becoming the first Argentine to obtain the triple crown in open water swimming. Also, eight of the scholarship recipients were part of the Argentine delegation in the Pan American and Parapan American Games, winning medals for the same.
Finally, regarding the Sponsorship Law, thanks to the benefits it represents for both athletes and companies, during 2023 agreements were registered that reached nine athletes and four sports institutions in the province.
In this way, the Government of Río Negro continues to work on the support and development of provincial sports activity.
