New Sports Venue Delivered to Itagüí: A Boost for the City’s Sports Community

This new sports venue that was delivered to the city is located in commune 2 in what was previously known as the Intermunicipal court and which now also houses a venue for combat disciplines.

In an emotional event that was attended by the mayor of Itagüí José Fernando Escobar, the governor of Antioquia Aníbal Gaviria Correa, senator Carlos Andrés Trujillo, representative Daniel Restrepo and the sports community, the delivery of the new Intermunicipal Articulated Life Unit was carried out -UVA-, a large sports space built in commune 2 of this city and which had contributions from the Government of Antioquia through Indeportes and the mayor’s office of Itagüí.

This large sports arena, built where the emblematic Intermunicipal field used to be, now has: regulation synthetic soccer field, stands, administrative building, walkway on the second floor that connects the entire complex, energy-saving LED lighting and a modern coliseum for sports disciplines. combat such as wrestling, judo, karate and taekwondo.

“Today we can tell the community that we fulfilled, we made the commitment to create a synthetic professional soccer field and today we delivered it, as well as the building for sports disciplines such as wrestling, judo, karate and taekwondo that have provided great results for the city. This is a space that complements the educational offer of the San José, Avelino Saldarriaga and Antonio José de Sucre educational institutions, which are located in the surroundings of this scenario,” said the mayor of Itagüí, José Fernando Escobar.

The investment in this space was 31,000 million pesos; 24,000 million contributed by the Government of Antioquia and 7,000 million by the Mayor’s Office of Itagüí, with a construction time close to 13 months.

This is the last sports venue delivered by the administration of Mayor José Fernando Escobar and which adds to the great intervention carried out in terms of sports infrastructure, among which are: the Óscar López Escobar Sports Center, the Skate park, the second stage of the municipal skatedrome, the sports plaques of the La Aldea and Las Margaritas neighborhoods, among other 170 interventions carried out in the four-year period and which allowed Itagüí to consolidate itself in third place in the last Departmental Sports Games held in Apartadó, with 110 gold medals.
