National: DAZN will broadcast two matches per day from January 2024

The resumption of the National will be accompanied by something new in terms of the broadcast of the matches. An agreement, concluded between the FFF and the third division championship, provides, in fact, for the broadcast on the English platform DAZN of two posters per day, a first on Friday evening as part of the multiplex and a second on Monday evening as a co -broadcast with Canal +. To kick off the ball, the match between Red Star and US Orléans, scheduled for January 12 for the 17th day of the championship, was selected, as indicated on its site by the Audon club, current leader of the National.

You will need to have a subscription to DAZN to watch these matches live, which risks frustrating supporters of the clubs concerned, forced to subscribe to an additional package.

The brand is slowly starting to make its mark in the audiovisual landscape. Established in the United States since 2015, it has been entering European football for several years, broadcasting Serie A, Liga and Bundesliga matches. It has even inaugurated, in Germany, a formula for free retransmission of certain matches.

In the race, too, for the rights to Ligue 1

While over-the-counter negotiations between the LFP and interested broadcasters (DAZN, Amazon and beIN Sports) are still underway for the TV rights of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 for the period 2024-2029, the platform form entered into a distribution agreement with Canal + last August. This allows him to benefit from two L1 matches per day via the “Canal + Ligue 1” digital bouquet. DAZN has a history of partnering with traditional broadcasters in order to maximize its audience and limit its investment costs.

Regularly nicknamed the “Netflix of sport”, DAZN seems best placed to acquire the rights to the Championship, with or without Amazon Prime Video, the American platform which already broadcasts seven out of nine L1 matches, including the ten best matches of the season, for 250 million euros (Canal + broadcasts two posters paid 332 million euros).
