The children of the S. Lucia Filippini Institute played an interclass mini-tournament
MONTEFIASCONE – Beautiful event on Thursday 21 December at the Palazzetto dello Sport in Montefiascone, where over 50 children from the Istituto Comprensivo Paritario S. Lucia Filippini concluded the Prime Basi Scuola project, promoted by the Italian Baseball Softball Federation with Sport&Salute.
Under the guidance of Luis Olmedo, coach of Montefiascone Baseball, and the careful supervision of Professor Serena D’Elia, the children of the 4th and 5th classes of primary school and 1st of secondary school, experimented with this game which reproduces the baseball, without the bat and gloves, just with your hands.
This helps significantly to improve the general coordination of children, in particular the oculo-manual coordination, which today is very little developed in the younger generations.
Not only that, but the characteristic that baseball has is that it has few rules: so the kids, playing with their natural competitiveness, have independently developed their strategies, which have little to do with the technique of the game, but which are a fundamental aspect in the process of forming the personality of children.
Montefiascone Baseball made colored jerseys available for all the teams and rewarded all the participants with a medal and the School with a cup, expressing satisfaction in seeing the boys enthusiastic and participating fully, both when they played and ran, and when they cheered loudly for their teammates.
The President of Montefiascone Baseball Cristiano Tabarrini, also in his role as Vice-President of the Lazio Regional Committee, thanked the School, the children and the families for their participation, hoping to be able to continue the collaboration and inviting everyone to try the game of baseball.
The Director, Sister Maria Emanuela Vanich and the teachers present expressed great satisfaction with the project and hope that it will be possible to continue this experience, also possibly with the participation of the secondary school in the Student Championships, organized by the Ministry.
