Minnesota defeats Vancouver in a penalty shootout

Minnesota’s home game in the National Hockey League (NHL) against Vancouver on Saturday was decided by a penalty shootout. The Wild around Marco Rossi prevailed 2-1 against the much better placed Canadians thanks to a try converted by Mats Zuccarello.

Vorarlberg’s Rossi, who recently celebrated his tenth goal of the season, played a comparatively inconspicuous game. With 14:37 minutes of ice time, he fired two shots on goal. He didn’t get a chance in the shoot-out.

Minnesota has continued to score points since the coaching change to John Hynes. With the third win in a row, the wildcard and play-off places are within reach. Frederick Gaudreau shot Minnesota into the lead (19th), after Teddy Blueger made it 1-1 (24th) it went into overtime. Wild goalie Filip Gustavsson had a catch rate of 97.2 percent.
