Mini Basket Manager Reflects on Growth and Success in Recanati

Christmas is a time for taking stock, even if partial.

After four months of activity we had a chat with the Mini Basket manager Carla Ambrogi.

The numbers continue to grow, there is so much enthusiasm, what is the secret? “The fear of COVID has disappeared and parents are returning to the gym, bringing their children with the idea of having new sporting experiences. In the Pallacanestro Recanati proposal, children find themselves in a peaceful environment, not only healthy and correct competition but hospitality and sharing under the responsible management of prepared and trained instructors. After having organized numerous and appreciated initiatives in the area, we can define ourselves as an inclusive association in all respects. The summer DAY CAMP, the OPEN DAY and the numerous promotional parties are our flagship. All this was possible thanks to the foresight of the Company which gave itself an organizational structure of considerable depth by involving the Municipal Administration and recruiting numerous instructors and managers who were always available. The children who participate in our Minibasket courses come to the gym 3 times a week (except the Pulcini group) and are followed at each training session by a FIP instructor and by the beloved team leaders Reimundo and Alfonsi, players of the First Team. As an educational experience, the children are always invited to attend the matches of our first team in Serie C and we have always seen them euphoric in cheering on their favorites correctly. The excellent results achieved in the championship by our first team fuel their passion for basketball and the sense of belonging”

The collaboration with Montefano Basket 2011 was also born, joining forces is always a good sign. “From this year we have structured a form of collaboration with our friends from Montefano with a view to joining forces in synergy and to allow more and more children to compete in the federal championships. Naturally, there are many organizational difficulties but thanks to the availability, above all, of the parents, we are sure that the project can have important continuity.

A decidedly important role is that of the school understood as a vehicle for making itself known in the area. “The company’s choice to invest in the school is a symptom of the great desire to increase the number of practitioners right from the base. There are still many children in primary school and the first year of secondary school who do not play sports and through spot interventions by experts we allow them to develop motor skills and understand what playing basketball could mean. Real contact always wins over word of mouth or hearsay. A company that wants to work well in recruitment cannot ignore interventions in schools. This certainly involves significant costs to bear but it certainly represents the right strategy.”

The mini basketball championships have just started but something else is in the works… “Last November 19th we organized a triangular tournament in which the 2012 rookie groups from Montefano, Recanati and Porto Recanati participated. The presence of mini athletes and parents was numerous and enthusiastic. Other events of the same kind will therefore be proposed again for the other Minibasket categories. In the meantime all the championships are starting and the children are really excited and happy to be able to play their first real games. The idea that’s floating around in our heads is to organize a major MINIBASKET event together with the FIP in the near future with the dream of filling the Pala Cingolani-Pierini, already used for important youth finals last year”.
