Meet the New Italian Starting Pitcher: Erik Soto Lopez

Erik Soto Lopez, 33 years old, is the new Italian starting pitcher of the Bbc Grosseto Spirulina Becagli 2024. The right pitcher, who played his entire career in Modena, with which he debuted in Serie A2 in 2010, was one of the best last season, which ended with a record of 7 wins-4 losses and an average of 3.71, thanks to a series of brilliant performances, including the quarter-final match against San Marino, lost 1-0 after a great duel with Tiago Da Silva.

Originally from the province of Santa Clara, Cuba, Erik Soto arrived in Italy at the age of thirteen, in 2003, joining his mother who had been in our country since 1996, starting to play in the youth teams of Modena. Initially he was registered as a foreigner, but the fact that he started in the youth team allowed him to become Afi.

«I spent wonderful years in Modena – says Erik Soto – but I wanted a change of scenery. At 33 I feel ready to make another leap in quality. It wasn’t easy to leave the club after almost twenty years, but I immediately felt at ease in Grosseto.”
