Maurizio Croceri: A Visionary Entrepreneur Transforming the Footwear Industry

He invented a new way of doing business, courageous and visionary. And at 40 years of age Maurizio Croceri can boast many records, having brought his company, Eli Group, from 8 to 93 million euros in turnover in just seven years. A development that is prodigious, especially if we consider the sad years of the pandemic, the social and geopolitical crises in the world, and a certain disaffection of young people towards style. But no, in the case of Maurizio Croceri we are faced with an example of unique business development that enhances his abilities as an entrepreneur and as a man.

Even more important and decisive work bases at the end of 2023 where many other companies have suffered strong slowdowns both in clothes and accessories, especially in the second part of the year. Instead, in the Eli Group factories in Civitanova Marche, where 70 people work, rising to 200 with related industries, and in Montegranaro there is satisfaction and enthusiasm.

Born in 1983 in Corridonia, in his beloved Marche region, Maurizio Croceri studied economics in Japan at the Budo State University in Katsuura, with a culture of Japan and its values inherited from his judo champion father. “For me, this discipline is a school, not a sport, it has given me a mental framework and a working method”, says the entrepreneur. Having returned to Italy within a few years, he understood that his future was in the world of footwear, a universe of tradition that marries the future that makes the Marche region a champion of Made in Italy. And he founded his own company which with licenses already had a turnover of 10 million euros.

“Then – he says – the lucky meeting like Marco Marchi, president of Eccellenze Italiane Holding and founder of Liu Jo, who invested 51% in the nascent Eli srl of which I hold 49% with Resilience Holding, for the planning, design and production and distribution of footwear of the Lui Jo brand for men, women and children. With Marco Marchi – continues Croceri who named the company Eli after his daughter Elena – we have created a new joint venture model for the brands Liu Jo, Blumarine and now also Pinko who looked for us with president Pietro Negra and now we also produce footwear for Pinko. In total we produce 1.5 million pairs every year.”

A year ago Croceri also opened Eli Factory, 100% owned by the group, a vertical structure dedicated to luxury production for other international brands, of which his brother Andrea Croceri is CEO. The new Factory is located in Montegranaro and has an entirely Made in Italy production chain. It all began with the acquisition of Bigioni, a highly experienced family company.

“We have invested in production and experience to maintain a historical culture at home which has led us to produce 120,000 pairs of sneakers and formal shoes in a year” says Maurizio Croceri who loves to dedicate himself to his Marche region, to the lush nature that allows him to produce excellent extra virgin olive oil and to develop activities linked to the world of horses, a great passion of his daughter Elena who is now 14 years old. “And I don’t rule out thinking about wine in the future” concludes the CEO.
