Marcel Martinez and François Navajas Honored for Exceptional Service in the Associative Sector

Marcel Martinez and François Navajas were received by the prefect who paid tribute to them for their actions in the associative sector.

It was at the Perpignan prefecture that the prefect Thierry Bonnier presented the distinctions to the association volunteers.

Marcel Martinez and François Navajas received the gold medal for volunteering. The Departmental Committee 66 for Youth Medals, Sports and Sports Commitment was also present to encourage volunteering within clubs and associations.

On the hiking trails

Marcel Martinez has been involved in the associative sector since 1976. In 2000, he was elected administrator to the Departmental Hiking Committee (CDRP) of the P.-O. From 2001 to 2005, he served as vice-president of the CDRP and created a hiking association in Bompas, which he still runs. As part of his mission to the Departmental Hiking Committee, he set up a trails and routes commission within the French Hiking Federation. In 2007, he was awarded the bronze medal for Youth and Sports. Then, from 2005 to 2016, he was elected president of the CDRP and received the silver medal for Youth and Sports. He then took over as interim president of the Languedoc-Roussillon Regional Hiking Committee and then, from 2015 to 2017, was elected president. It ensures the merger of the two regions, Languedoc-Roussillon and Midi-Pyrénées. From 2017 to 2021, he was elected vice-president of the Occitanie Regional Hiking Committee and chaired the Regional Trails and Routes Commission of this same committee. He becomes a member of the National Commission for trails and routes of the FF hiking.

Archers in the spotlight

François Navajas has been president of the Bompas Archers since 2003. Very involved in archery, François is a 2 FFTA coach, an all-option referee and is a referee trainer in the department, a sports educator and a disabled sports coach.

He is also elected to the Cdos (Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee) and vice-president of Archery Committee 66.

François Navajas discovered archery in 1993 during the World Indoor Championships in Perpignan where he was a volunteer. He was then transferred to the Archers de Bompas where he has been passing on his passion to young people, adults, able-bodied people and people with disabilities ever since. He was awarded the bronze medal in 2008 and silver in 2013. This gold medal completes his involvement in the associative sector.
