A 41-year-old man appeared before the Haut-Rhin Assize Court for violence and rape, including one involving torture or an act of barbarity, committed against his ex-partner.
From 2017 to 2020, the accused assaulted, beat and raped his partner five times.
One of the rapes was committed with a baseball bat.
When the victim was taken into care, numerous marks were noted on his body, such as traces of metal pellets being fired.
The accused was sentenced Friday to 17 years in prison.
The man had already been convicted nine times, including five for violence. Two of these convictions concerned violence against a former partner, and another against a child.
