Major Anti-Gang Operation in Milan: 16 Arrested, Including 7 Minors

Youth anti-gang operation. In Milan 16 people arrested, seven of them minors, as part of the operation to combat criminal youth groups which ended today in 14 Italian provinces. In the Lombardy capital – the police headquarters said in a note – during the operations six people were reported, including four minors, 520 people (of which 124 under 18), 18 vehicles were checked and over 200 grams of drugs and weapons were seized, including a brass knuckles with knives, baseball bats, machetes and electric stun guns. The activity in Milan was carried out by the agents of the flying squad, in collaboration with the policemen of the general prevention and public rescue office and the police stations.

Controls from the center to the outskirts of the city

The areas affected range from the center (Garibaldi, Gae Aulenti, Duomo, Navigli, Buenos Aires, Porta Venezia, City Life, Central Station) to the suburbs (Greco Turro, Niguarda, Lambrate, San Siro, Bonola). In fact, here – underlines the police headquarters – is “where a high number of criminal episodes attributable to the phenomenon of street gangs have been recorded”. During the activity, on Tuesday 12 December the policemen of the flying squad searched young people who gravitate around the world of trappers and stand out “for aggressive and violent actions on the street against rival groups”, as well as for “the display of their social pages of anti-social conduct, such as opposition to institutions, the police, use of weapons and drugs”.

Gangs of North Africans dedicated to street robberies

The following day, Wednesday 13 December, during the searches of young people belonging to fluid street gangs of North African origin, particularly dedicated to thefts and robberies, the officers found and seized a brass knuckles with a knife, a dog swatter, clubs baseball caps, stun guns, machetes and knives. In addition to the initiative searches, on 14 December, together with the staff of the Greco Turro police station, a search decree issued by the prosecutor’s office for minors was carried out against four young North Africans investigated for an aggravated robbery against a minor boy. During the search, evidence was collected regarding the commission of the robbery.
