Lonzo Ball’s Future with the Chicago Bulls: Hope on the Horizon

Chicago will not welcome back Lonzo Ball this season, but somewhat positive news is still coming from Illinois about the future of the Bulls point guard. Coach Billy Donovan, in fact, made it known that the knee pain that stopped the former UCLA product has essentially disappeared and that Ball will be able to run again from January. Just in January – the 14th to be exact – it will be two years since Ball played his last NBA game, before starting an ordeal that saw him forced to undergo three knee surgeries. To compensate for his prolonged absence, the Bulls were granted a salary exception of 10.2 million dollars, but on the pitch they lack (and a lot) the playmaking and magic of the player capable of averaging 13 points, with more than 5 assists and 5 rebounds per evening during the 2021-22 season, the last that saw him on the court. “His attitude has never changed – coach Donovan praised him – and this deserves credit to him. He continues to be optimistic about his return to the field, and when you have to go through all the tribulations that he went through it’s not easy: it’s much easier let yourself be overwhelmed by doubts and questions”.
