Ligue 1: the moving shower of stuffed toys in Lille for underprivileged children

At the end of the first 45 minutes of Lille-Metz (2-0 final score), the Decathlon Arena was the scene of a fluff throw from the different sections of supporters this Sunday. The initiative, thought up and organized by subscribers, aimed to offer gifts to disadvantaged children before Christmas. The stuffed animals will be washed and redistributed to charities.

On the sidelines of the meeting, LOSC communicated its instructions for the event. “If each spectator will only be able to enter the stadium with one soft toy, supporters who have the possibility of bringing more are invited to bring them with them, then distribute them to the people of Lille on the square, so that everyone can participate when throwing. (…) They must not exceed 40 centimeters and must not include batteries or be equipped with batteries. »

After the signal given by the announcers, a large part of the stadium simultaneously threw the stuffed animals to the cheers of the supporters. This type of gesture remains rare in France. Caen tried it out in January for its first match of the year at Ornano. In February, supporters of Besiktas (Turkey) chose a similar initiative to pay tribute to the victims of the earthquake which left more than 50,000 dead.
