The Leones del Esgido and Tigres del Licey swept their respective doubleheaders this Wednesday in Santo Domingo and La Romana, respectively, to advance to the Round Robin next Wednesday.
In Santo Domingo, the Lions came from behind to beat the Gigantes del Cibao 3-1 as visitors at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium and thus secure their place in the postseason.
Erik González delivered a sacrifice bunt in the ninth inning to give El Esgido the lead in the first game, while Cameron Gann had a quality outing, pitching five scoreless innings of one hit, two walks and one strikeout.

In the second, Tyler Alexander struck out nine and allowed one hit in the four-run shutout victory, Franmil Reyes and José Marmolejos each hit a home run for the Lions.

In La Romana, the Tigres del Licey blanked the Toros del Este 1-0 in the second game of a double round to qualify for the postseason of the fall-winter baseball tournament.

The Tigres defeated the Toros 5-3 in the first game held at the Francisco Micheli Stadium. With the two wins, the Tigers earned their place in the semifinal round of winter ball.

In Santiago, Juan Lagares capped a spectacular comeback with an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the Águilas Cibaeñas took a dramatic 8-7 victory over the Estrellas Orientales, but could not avoid being eliminated from the tournament at the Cibao Stadium .

With these results, Esído and Licey join Gigantes y Estrellas for Round Robin number 37 that begins next week.
