LeBron James’ Manager Admits to Placing Illegal Bets on NBA Games

Maverick Carter admitted that he placed bets on NBA games through an illegal bookmaker.

Maverick Carter, LeBron James’ manager as well as a partner and close friend of the Los Angeles Lakers star since they were young, admitted that he placed bets on NBA games through an illegal bookmaker, The Washington newspaper reported. Post.

LeBron’s manager acknowledged these facts during a 2021 federal investigation into illegal bookmaker Wayne Nix.

Carter admitted that he placed about twenty bets on football and basketball games over the course of a year for amounts between five thousand and 10 thousand dollars.

The manager said he doesn’t remember betting on any Lakers games.

The NBA prohibits players and team and League executives from placing bets, while the Players Union extends that prohibition to agents.

Neither organization has rules regarding managers in this regard.

After their game against OklahomaCityThunder this past Thursday (the Lakers lost 133-110), LeBron assured that he did not know until now that Carter had collaborated with the authorities in that investigation.

“Maverick makes his own decisions and at the end of the day gambling is legal. I mean, you can go on your phone right now and do whatever you want. And he has no affiliation with the NBA or the NFL, so he can do whatever he wants,” he said in statements to the media.
