Latvian Hockey Federation Provides Internship Opportunities for New Coaches

The four new coaches will train with the Latvian national hockey teams during the international selection window from December 11 to 15, reports the Latvian Hockey Federation (LHF).

Will work for the national hockey team Krišjānis Rēdlich (HS “Grīziņkalns”), will be with the U20 junior team Ivan Kokin (“Daugavpils Sports School”), Janis Svitins from HK “Tukums” will train with the U18 national team, but Krišjānis Āboliņš-Abols will be with the U16 3×3 national team.

It should be noted that the 42-year-old Rödlich continues to play hockey, representing the “Mogo/LSPA” team of the “Optibet” hockey league (OHL). This season, he played 18 games, in which he made 12 assists.

This season, the board of the Latvian Hockey Federation (LHF) accepted the opportunity for young hockey coaches to acquire knowledge and do internships in the national hockey teams of Latvia. Also during the November break, four new coaches trained with the national teams. Acquired knowledge: Edgars Brancis (national team), Toms Bluks (U20 junior team), Sandis Grīnbergs (U18 youth team) and Edijs Brahmanis (U16 team).

The Latvian Hockey Federation (LHF) plans to introduce this internship for new specialists in all international windows by the end of the season. It is planned that the coaches who will join the Latvian national teams will change and rotate. Therefore, opportunities will be given to specialists from hockey organizations throughout Latvia.
