Latvia Wins 7th Place in World Floorball Championship After Victory Over Denmark

In the match for the seventh place, the Latvian national team defeated Denmark with a score of 6:4 (0:1, 2:2, 4:1).

Simona Gräpėna stood out for the Latvians with three goals scored – all in the third period, but Evelina Garbare, Emilija Salaciete and Annie Darta Dankfelde beat the opponents one at a time.

In group A, Latvian floorball players lost to Finland with 1:14, lost to Norway with 3:4 and capitulated to Switzerland with 1:22, occupying the last place in the group. In the fight to enter the quarter-finals, the Latvians defeated Japan 8-5, but in the quarter-finals, they lost to the current champion Sweden 3-13.

In the small semi-final for the fifth place, Latvia lost to Slovakia 4:6 on Saturday.

On the other hand, the Danish floorball players lost to Japan 2:3 in group D, recognized the superiority of Estonia 4:6, and won 9:2 over the USA. In the fight for a place in the quarter-finals, Denmark won 4-3 against Norway, but in the quarter-finals they lost 1-13 against the Czech Republic.

In the second small semi-final, the Danes recognized the superiority of Poland for the fifth place with 3:7

Sweden, Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia competed in Group B, Germany, Singapore, Australia and France were drawn in Group C, and Denmark, Estonia and Japan met in Group D.

The eight strongest world-ranked teams formed subgroups A and B, and the rest – subgroups C and D, playing a round-robin competition. The owners of the first two places in groups A and B immediately entered the quarterfinals, while the owners of the third and fourth positions met with the two strongest teams of the second echelon groups.

The finals of the World Championship in Singapore will end on December 10.
