Lauriane Nolot was elected sailor of the year 2023 on Friday evening following a ceremony organized at the Olympia. The 25-year-old kitefoiler, who will be one of the great chances of a medal for French sailing next summer at the Paris 2023 Olympic Games, won the title of kitesurfing world champion in August in the Netherlands after dominating the Marseille Test Event, preparatory competition for the Olympics. She also won the 2023 Kitefoil World Series which ended last Sunday in China.
« I really didn’t expect it, because there were so many great sailors around me on that Olympia stage. It’s a great way to end my year. 2023 was the result of a lot of work, a lot of stress, a lot of questioning over the competitions which followed one another. I managed to overcome all of this. The greatest distinction is to tell myself that I am proud of what I have managed to accomplish. I can tell myself that I did a great job, that’s cool! », commented the Winner who is ahead of the duo Thomas Ruyant and Morgan Lagravière, winner of the Transat Jacques Vabre in November in an Imoca.
