Karolina Muchova misses the Australian Open

The next setback for Karolina Muchova: The world number eight had to cancel her participation in the Australian Open 2024 due to a wrist injury. The Czech announced this on Thursday via Instagram.

Muchova has not been able to play a match since the US Open due to problems with her wrist and originally wanted to make her comeback in Australia. During the preparation, the pain returned, said the 27-year-old. “That’s why I have to postpone the start of the season and first fully recover my wrist.”

Muchova also misses the WTA Finals

Muchova reached the French Open final in 2023 and is looking back on the best season of her life. Thanks to her strong performances, she qualified for the WTA Finals for the first time, but the Czech also had to cancel this start due to her wrist injury.

It is currently unclear when Muchova can return to the tour. “It’s frustrating, but I have to stay positive, recover and prepare for the rest of the year,” said the 27-year-old, who won’t lose too many points from the rankings for the time being. In 2023, Muchova only reached the second round of the Australian Open.
