Jule Niemeier’s Coaching Carousel: New Trainer, New Hopes

And another new one!

Recently, tennis star Jule Niemeier (24) has had more coaches than she plays matches. At least almost. After the failed qualification for the US Open in August, the Dortmund woman separated from Christopher Kas (43) and hired the Croatian Zeljko Krajan (44). But that too is history again.

Now the 2022 Wimbledon quarter-finalist brought in her manager as a coach. Michael Geserer (54) is now working with her, preparing her for the Australian Open. Since Niemeier has fallen to 165th place, she has to qualify.

Hard to believe: just over a year ago she was over 100 places better, in 61st place. Geserer to BILD: “The positive thing is, it can only get better. She hardly has any points to defend in 2024.” The first joint appearance will follow at the tournament in Auckland (New Zealand), which starts on January 1st. Niemeier has to qualify there too.

Geserer: “There is noticeable progress. She trains incredibly well. If you use it every day like you have in the last four weeks, then it will be great.” Niemeier, who was recently accused of a lack of fitness, doesn’t have much to laugh about. Geserer: “It was probably Jules’ toughest four weeks ever. She has made significant gains in all areas.” Purely sporty, of course.

According to reports, Krajan himself was not shocked about his departure as a coach and understood the change to her manager, who had previously led Jule Görges (35) into the top 10 and Jennifer Brady (28) into the Australian Open final . Most recently, Geserer coached the Croatian Petra Martic (32).

Under Krajan, Niemeier has played just ten games since September, of which she only won four. Now, with Geserer, who also remains her manager, she wants to get back into the top 100 and become Germany’s best player, which she already was. She is currently only number 6 in the DTB behind Maria, Korpatsch, Siegemund, Friedsam and Lys.

Also in the team: Physio Florian Zitzelsberger (34), who also looks after Naomi Osaka (26). The former number 1 is making her comeback Down Under after a baby break. An interesting constellation. The tennis year 2024 will definitely be exciting.
