“It’s getting worse and worse”: faced with attacks, Montrouge educators suspend training

It was the straw that broke the camel’s back. This Tuesday in Montrouge, a football instructor was attacked and threatened by a parent who came to see their child play in this Hauts-de-Seine club. “Violent by the insults, this parent also wanted to come to blows,” specifies the Montrouge educators in a press release.

One of the club’s educators, who wished to remain anonymous, spoke to Le Parisien. “It concerns the family of a player who did not accept that their child was not selected in the U17 group. Everyone wants to be there because it’s the elite among young people. If they join this team, they have a chance to sign for a professional club later. A family member wanted to attack the coach on Tuesday, a training day. Fortunately, the coach remained calm and in control, but things could have escalated. There was a real desire for physical aggression,” he says.

“It seems like every family plays out their life through their child. It’s the Mbappé effect! »

If the incident did not go any further thanks to the calmness of the educator, the Montrouge Football Club 92 took the decision to cancel all training sessions scheduled for next week, from December 18 to 22. A decision taken “following repeated events endangering the physical and mental health of our educators of all categories of young people”, indicates the press release.

“Since I have been an educator, it has gotten worse and worse,” confides our witness. Even in Montrouge, a quiet family club, we hear things every week. This can range from micro-incidents, to insults, or even more. It has become very complicated. Given the time we devote to it, we don’t make a living with it, it clearly makes us want to stop everything. And the categories don’t matter. Children under 10 years old can be confused. It’s getting hot… It seems like every family plays out their life through their child. It’s the Mbappé effect! »

The Montrouge educators, authors of the press release, criticize “the lack of support from management”. A year ago, a parent, member of the board of directors (CA), threatened a coach with a knife, without being removed from the club. “For 18 months, with the arrival of the new management, it has become unhealthy and burdensome,” explains the educator. Management does not protect us, or even condone us. Some board members are parents who are there for their personal interest and their child. Today, we want to put an end to it and send a strong message. » And it starts with a week without training.
