Italian Anti-Doping Prosecution Seeks Four-Year Suspension for Paul Pogba

The Italian anti-doping prosecution has requested a four-year suspension against Paul Pogba, reports Gazzetta dello sport on Thursday.

On August 20, the French midfielder from Juventus Turin tested positive for testosterone after the match on the first day of Serie A Udinese-Juventus (0-3) where he remained on the bench. On September 12, the 30-year-old French international (91 caps), under contract with Juve until 2026, was provisionally suspended by the Italian Anti-Doping Agency (Nado) for “violation of articles 2.1 and 2.2 for the presence of the following prohibited substances: testosterone metabolites »

On October 6, the second opinion of sample B confirmed the presence of testosterone metabolites. The four years required by the anti-doping prosecution correspond to the sanction provided for doping in the absence of a plea bargain.

Putting forward the hypothesis that Pogba would have refused this negotiated procedure which would have kept him away from the field for two years, the Gazzetta dello sport specifies that the player will be judged before the National Anti-Doping Tribunal.
