Injured Bayern Defense Gets Mixed News: Mazraoui Out for 6 Weeks, De Ligt Returns to Training

Bayern’s defensive concerns are getting bigger and bigger – but there is at least a small ray of hope now…

On Wednesday after the 1-0 win at Manchester United, there was further bad news for the already decimated Bayern defense: Noussair Mazraoui (26) suffered an even more serious muscle injury in the first half – a torn bundle in his left calf. According to BILD information, the right-back will be out for at least six weeks!

Very bitter for him: In addition to the upcoming league games, he will also miss at least large parts of the Africa Cup of Nations (January 13th to February 11th, 2024).

But there was a small ray of hope on Thursday: Matthijs de Ligt (24) was back with the team for the first time!

The Dutchman came from the performance center at 11:32 a.m. and went behind the curtain for secret training with the reservists from the Frankfurt game Krätzig, Pavlovic, Müller, Guerreiro, Tel and Peretz. Neuer was also there. Noticeable: Ulreich, who had already missed the trip to Manchester due to a stretched capsule in his right ankle, was still missing from the pitch. The starting eleven stars Leroy Sané and Minjae Kim trained indoors at the club’s headquarters.

De Ligt suffered a partial tear in the medial ligament in his right knee during the cup exit in Saarbrücken at the beginning of November. Recently, coach Thomas Tuchel (50) feared that de Ligt would not be back on the pitch until the new year.

Things could be quicker now. De Ligt has recently been training intensively individually, doing sprints, headers and exercises with the ball. A game against Stuttgart on Sunday would certainly be a bit early, but Wolfsburg next Wednesday could be an option.

NO ONE BOOKED THIS FOR Müller’s scrap shock
