The INDE of Baja California has distinguished the archer who won the State Sports Award in 2023.
Mexicali, Baja California.- The winner of the State Sports Award in the Paralympic Athlete category, archer Karen Rocha, received the 175 thousand pesos and the medal that accredits her as the best in 2023.
Karen Rocha, who could not attend the State Sports Award ceremony because she was present at the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games, where she won bronze in the individual recurve bow, joyfully received the award given by the INDE of Baja California.
“(I am) very happy for this recognition, we know that there are many people with disabilities, with great talent here in Baja California, that there are going to be more and more competitions, they are going to be more close in terms of the State Award,” she said.
Excited by such a distinction in Baja California, the Mexican native will be an award that will help a lot in her sports career, to continue in the fight of her dreams, reaching the Paralympic Games.
The representative of Mexico in the World Para Archery Championship and in the 2023 Parapan American Games, pointed out that after the celebrations for a great year, she will continue with her training in the Sports City, with a view to the World Cup event where she will look for her ticket to Paris 2024.
“We are going to continue training, we cannot let up, we have to give our best, continue improving, I think it has been a good year, with a lot of training and also to be grateful.
“Mainly, to the Institute of Sports (and Physical Culture) for all the support and for believing in adapted sports, which is possible, also thank our directors and the governor (Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda) for all the support” , he commented.
The sporting talent of Baja California also received the pans given by the INDE of Baja California, then directed by Erik Morales, to the athletes who represented Mexico in Santiago 2023.
