Before the top game in Klagenfurt, club legend Thomas Koch was honored. The 40-year-old striker ended his successful career in the spring. Koch won nine championship titles with the KAC and Salzburg; with 1,043 points in 1,163 games, he is the best scorer in recent league history.

His successors were stingy with goals in front of 4,300 fans. Manuel Ganahl only gave the KAC the lead in the 39th minute, Adam Payerl (47th) equalized. The score went into extra time at 1-1, with Ryan Murphy scoring the decisive goal. This ended Klagenfurt’s successful run of four wins in a row. After two defeats, Salzburg regained success and moved within four points of league leaders Fehervar. The Hungarians will only play in Feldkirch on Thursday.

Schedule and table

“Klagenfurt was very dangerous at the beginning, but we defended well. From the second period onwards we turned the game around and had significantly more possession and chances, even if the KAC had its opportunities. “We had them under control quite well in the third period with the exception of a few chances and were then rewarded with the victory in overtime,” said Salzburg coach Oliver David.
