Hugo Lloris Set to Leave Tottenham Hotspur for MLS Club Los Angeles FC

After more than eleven years together, Hugo Lloris and Tottenham Hotspur are set to part ways.

As Fabrizio Romano reports, a verbal agreement has been reached for the goalkeeper to move to MLS club Los Angeles FC. The goalkeeper is expected to sign for one year with options for an extension.

LAFC made it to the final of the MLS playoffs this year, but fell to Columbus Crew. In December, Giorgio Chiellini ended his career at Lloris’ potential neo-club.

Approval for club search in the summer

Lloris came to Spurs from Olympique Lyon in the summer of 2012 and played almost 450 competitive games for the Premier League club. In 2019 he reached the final of the UEFA Champions League with Tottenham.

A year earlier, Lloris, who celebrated his 37th birthday at the end of December, became world champion with France. At the beginning of 2023 he resigned from the national team as a record player (145 appearances).

Last summer, Lloris, who is currently tied to Tottenham until 2024, was given clearance to look for a club. A transfer to Lazio Rome was discussed, but ultimately did not materialize.

The Italian Guglielmo Vicario has held the top spot at Spurs since the summer of 2023. The keeper moved from FC Empoli to London.
