Hosting the Andalusian Table Tennis Championship in Huelva: A Major Event Bringing Over 1,500 Participants to the Capital

These last days of the year will bring more than 1,500 people to the capital, including participants, companions and technicians.

The Councilor for Youth and Sports of the Huelva City Council, Maria de la O Rubio; the delegate of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Junta in Huelva, Teresa Herrera; the Sports Deputy of the Provincial Council, Juan Daniel Romero; and the president of the Andalusian Table Tennis Federation, Esteban Rodríguez Peralta; and the president of the Hispanidad Table Tennis Club presented today at a press conference the LXIX of the Andalusian Table Tennis Championship. A competition that, for the first time, will be held in Huelva from December 26 to 30 at the Carolina Marín Sports Palace.

The councilor has indicated that “Huelva has historically been linked to racket sports, such as tennis, badminton and also table tennis, so it is great news that it has been chosen to host the most important event of the Andalusian season.”

Likewise, it has highlighted the impact of this competition on the promotion of our city, as well as its economic impact on hospitality and tourism, since it will bring these last days of the year to the capital to more than 1,500 people including participants, companions and technicians.

Teresa Herrera has spoken in the same sense, highlighting that “Sport brings 33 percent of tourists to cities, so an event of these top-level characteristics represents a very important number of overnight stays and a golden opportunity to show sport and the benefits that Huelva has.”

On the other hand, the provincial Sports deputy has highlighted “the good harmony of the three administrations so that sport in Huelva continues to grow”. And he thanked the Andalusian Tennis Federation and Leopoldo Marta for allowing the province of Huelva to host “a competition that will allow us to enjoy a booming sport and continue promoting it so that we have new champions in Huelva.”

For his part, Esteban Rodríguez has shown “the excitement and joy that it means for the federation to arrive at a place where all the administrations extend their hand to us and which is also the land of the number one table tennis player in Huelva, the home of Álvaro Robles, flagship of this sport that started at the La Hispanida Clubd”.

In relation to the competition, he has reported that it will bring together clubs from all over Andalusia in the male and female categories of Pre-Benjamín (Promises), Benjamín, Alevín, Infantil, Juvenil, Absolute, veterans +40, +50, +60 and +65, where the provinces of Jaén and Granada will be the ones with the greatest representation. However, the increase in participants from the Huelva province in the first categories has advanced, which raises many hopes for the future of table tennis in Huelva.

Finally, Leopoldo Matapromoter of the Huelva bid, has thanked all the help received from all the administrations to make it possible to hold this championship in the Carolina Marín Sports Palace in which 22 playing areas will be enabled.
