Héctor Rodríguez leads Chosen team to fourth straight victory

NEW YORK.- Héctor Rodríguez hit a double, triple and scored two in the fourth straight victory for the Chosen team, who beat the Águilas 8-1 on Tuesday in Santo Domingo in a Dominican Baseball League game.

This fourth consecutive victory for the Lions (19-17) places them just half a game away from second place in the championship.

The result improved the Lions’ record, placing them alone in third place, and widened the gap in relation to the bottom-ranked Águilas, who fell six full games away from the last place that gives them a ticket to the Round Robin.

The Leones del Esgido continued their dominance over the Águilas Cibaeñas, especially on a very special night for Junior Lake.
Lake hit his 437th hit in the Regular Series. The others have been in Round Robin (123), Final Series (36), mini playoff (1) and semifinal (3).

He is number 25 with 600 or more in all stages of the tournament.

In San Francisco de Macorís, American Rubén Cárdenas hit an RBI single for the winning run in the ninth inning that gave the Giants a 4-3 victory against Licey at the Julián Javier Stadium.

In San Pedro de Macorís, the Estrellas Orientales made a four-score rally in the bottom of the fourth inning and defeated the Toros del Este with a score of 5-1, thus further establishing themselves in the first position of the table in the Tetelo Vargas Stadium.
