Some U-17 world champions are being targeted online because they play for Germany with black skin. The racists are becoming louder and louder and more and more daring. The DFB is right to warn.

Germany in November 2023. A German junior national team wins a World Cup game in Indonesia. Four soccer players, Charles Herrmann, Almugera Kabar, Paris Brunner, Fayssal Harchaoui, young people, 17 years old, obviously very talented on the ball, but also almost shy in their eyes, are looking forward to a selfie afterwards.

The German Football Association shares the picture. And in response she receives: around 3,400 comments that are blocked. Because “family men, people you will see in the pedestrian zone tomorrow,” as the DFB puts it, are pouring hate, malice and their racist world view on four German young people in these comments. Because they play for Germany with black skin. Because they are black and German. Because they are.
