Dávid Hancko extends his contract with Feyenoord, the Rotterdam club announced on Friday. The 25-year-old central defender is therefore stuck in De Kuip until the summer of 2028.

“I am always proud that I wear the Feyenoord shirt and can play in a swirling Kuip in front of a frenzied audience. So signing for longer was an easy decision,” says Hancko on his club’s website. “My first year at Feyenoord was very special with the national championship. I feel at home here in Rotterdam and I look forward to what the future brings.”

The Slovakian defender’s contract ran until the summer of 2026 and will be broken open by the Rotterdam club. Hancko came over from Sparta Prague in 2022 for 8.3 million euros. He previously played for Fiorentina and Slovakian club MSK Zilina.

Hancko is a permanent fixture in coach Arne Slot’s team. The 35-time Slovak international has already played 66 matches for the Rotterdam team, scoring five goals and providing six assists.

Feyenoord will play the last Champions League match of the season against Celtic on Wednesday, December 13, after which the team can prepare for the Europa League. Four days later, the number two of the Eredivisie will visit Heracles Almelo (Sunday, December 17 at 2:30 PM).
