Goldengas Conquers Orsogna: An Authoritative Victory and Strong Start to the Season

An important victory also for the authority with which it arrived. Goldengas conquers Orsogna, the Pescara Basket 2.0 field, and wins the seventh victory of this first round.

A turning point at which Senigallia arrives with an authoritative and solid performance, with intensity, concentration and without ever being put down by the boys from Pescara. An excellent conclusion to get off to the best start to the direct clashes which will inaugurate the return round until the Christmas break.

The start was entirely, or almost entirely, signed by two men, Brigato on one side (8 points in the first quarter alone) and Ranitovic (10 points at the first siren): Goldengas started strong and immediately went 4-0 before suffering the 7-2 which gives the home team the first lead of the match. From there the back and forth between the two teams begins, for a balance that doesn’t break until 25-23 at the end of the first set, sealed by Imsandt’s two free throws.

It is in the second quarter that the first break arrives: Goldengas first scores a 10-2 lead by the heavy conclusions of Sanna and Benzoni which force coach Cinquegrana to time out. However, the home team’s bleeding does not stop and reaches 45-27 for Senigallia with the two youngsters still on the shields (at the interval there will be 15 points from Sanna and 10 from Benzoni). The 4-0 scored by Del Prete and Stefanov was immediately stopped by coach Gabrielli’s timeout which stemmed the home team’s momentum. Thus, Giacomini and his teammates, by running and matching the intensity of their young opponents, kept the lead constantly above double figures. Bracci’s basket following a nice assist from Imsandt sets the score at 56-39 for our Goldengas.

In the third quarter Pescara makes a timid comeback with Goldengas scoring just two points in the first 3’20” and exclusively from the foul line. Pescara also returns to -14 but the two supports from Brigato and Medizza on as many assists from the red and white Captain Giacomini and the 2/2 from Neri give the guests the maximum advantage, 64-44. A moment of confusion which is then largely overcome: first Imsandt and then Sanna place the torpedoes which rewrite the maximum advantage up to +24, 73-49; Stefanov’s consecutive 6/6 from the line closes the quarter at 73-55.

The last partial is in fact only for statistics with the two teams slowing down but not stopping with Giacomini continuing to dish out assists (there will be 10 winning passes in the end) and Goldengas almost reaching 100 points. It ends 99-73.

Next appointment for Giacomini and his teammates next Saturday, December 9th, at 6.00 pm at PalaMegabox, home of Bramante Pesaro for a first, very important, direct clash.
