The national basketball team of Georgia was left without a head coach in September. When the contract was concluded, it was decided not to continue cooperation with the current head coach of the national team, Ilias Zuros. The Greek specialist has been coaching the Georgian national team since 2016.
As “Eurohoops” reports, the Georgian Basketball Federation approached Aleksandar Dzikič, but received a refusal – the Serbian specialist was not allowed to combine his work in the club and the national team, which he leads, Jerusalem’s “Hapoel”.
The Georgian national team will start the EuroBasket 2025 qualification in February, playing matches against Denmark and Serbia, and will participate in the qualification competition for the Olympic Games in Riga in July.
