In the 399th “Intercontinental Derby” [“Galatasaray” klubs bāzēts Stambulas Eiropas daļā, savukārt “Fenerbahçe” – Āzijas daļā – K.J.] Galatasaray, the current keeper of the Super League title, had the only shot on target, which failed to continue its two-game winning streak. “Galatasaray” won 3-0 in both derbies of the previous season.
Mauro Icardi, one of Galatasaray’s best-known footballers, got a bruise under his eye after hitting the goal post.
Both Istanbul giants have reached the knockout stages of the Eurocups this season – Galatasaray, who overtook Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League group, will participate in the 1/16 finals of the Europa League, while “Fenerbahçe” will compete in the Round of 16 of the European Conference League.
