After four well-negotiated first days, the Tricolores challenge Austria on Friday evening at Roazhon Park in Rennes. Hervé Renard’s players have a record of three wins and one draw and hope to extend their domination of Group 2 of Ligue A.
The French are back against the Austrians whom they had beaten 0-1 on September 26 in the first leg, thanks to an early goal from Wendie Renard. With ten points on the clock, three ahead of their evening opponent, they are first in the group and in a favorable position to qualify for the knockout phase. The Blues will validate their presence in the Final Four in the event of success against their last rival in this group.
The group winners of League A qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament then the two finalists are offered a ticket to the Paris Olympic Games. Note that France, as host country, is already automatically qualified.
