Former New York Giants Running Back Derrick Ward Arrested in Connection with Los Angeles Robberies

The Super Bowl winner with the New York Giants, former running back Derrick Ward, was arrested in connection with robberies to businesses in the Los Angeles area, authorities reported.

Ward, 43, was arrested Monday night, the police said. Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD)with no details available about any robberies in which Ward was involved.

According to reports, the former Giants running back was arrested this Monday and booked into Van Nuys Jail at approximately 6:30 p.m.. Ward was in custody on $250,000 bail.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday morning that no charges had been brought against Ward to consider criminal charges.

Derrick was born on August 20, 1980 in the Los Angeles area. and played the running back position, standing 5 feet, 11 inches tall, and weighing 240 pounds.

Ward, who studied at Valley View High School in Moreno Valleywas selected in the seventh round of the draft by the New York Jets in 2004, although he never played for them, after his college career at Fresno State and the University of Ottawa (Kansas).

In 2018, Naomi Lee Allen-Ward, then Ward’s wife, filed a restraining order against Derrickwhom he accused of verbal, emotional and physical abuse, according to court documents, as reported at the time on the TMZ website.
