Bundesliga club SV Darmstadt 98 and his athletic director Carsten Wehlmann have unexpectedly separated. As the bottom of the table announced, the club released Wehlmann with immediate effect after the 51-year-old terminated his contract on March 31st. “We would like to thank Carsten Wehlmann for his commitment over the past few years, especially in terms of squad planning and coaching selection,” said President Rüdiger Fritsch: “Although his decision presents us with major challenges due to the timing of the upcoming winter transfer phase, we have to accept and respect his decision.”
Wehlmann, who has worked for the “Lilien” since 2018 and took over the position of sporting director in 2019, said: “After a few sporting milestones, I have decided in the last few months that after more than five years at the club, it is time for one change is.
